Scarp 1 news:

Henry Shires from Tarp Tent contacted me, and sent some updated photos of the Scarp 1 flysheet. Looks superb and the tension of the flysheet was something Henry really wanted to improve, but to be honest it is very good as it is. So the improvement is fantastic. He is trying to get it finished and into production at the end of November. Until then you will have to be patient. The photos show the changes and potential of this tent. Truly versatile - and useable in the UK all year round.

The end vent will be a bonus to venting in the damp and wet UK.  Useful and no modding needed to this tent.  The control of airflow to reduce condensation is essential to a effective tent in the hills and the design here is born from a company that listens and updates its design to meet the needs of its customers.

Looks superb, Martin & Henry! Lots of innovation on the fly, curious about the inner if there's been changes as well? Robin mentioned something about pockets, and after having had pockets in another tent I am testing at the moment I need to say its a good thing to have them.

This looks like the tent we've all been waiting for.

Lovely tight flysheet with versatile venting options.

Can't wait to get one. Unfortunately it's too late for my Lake District trip.

HrXXL I don’t know yet about the weight, as it’s the pre production model. I am sure Henry will share soon more info soon with us. Thanks for the comment and good to see you hear.

Hendrik I don’t know if the inner is updated on the new one. I don’t worry about pockets to be honest. Some like them and some don’t. Rucksacks have pockets and the porch is with in arm reach so it is not an issue to me, unless there are swarms of insects.

Robin it looks superb and like you say pitches tight and secure with good venting. Won’t be long before you get one.

woo hoo!
Looks great and cant wait for this to be available. Even at the end of Nov/start of Dec, there will be plenty of months to test this fella out in UK winter conditions....
:)

Having sold my Laserlite, I have to say I'm awfy tempted by the Scarp. Internal length looks to be just over 7 ft which would be ideal if indeed the figures are accurate.

Interesting. Very interesting.

Hendrik, the interiors for the Scarp 1 now have small pockets just under the end of each door zipper -- same as the Scarp 2. There is also a small repositioning of the connection to the end strut to better tension the fabric. Lastly, we will be offering an optional full mesh interior for use in warmer climates.

hrXXL, I don't have a finel weight on it yet. The inverted-V corner supports got lighter as did the arch sleeve tension straps. There is some additional fabric and zipper but the weight difference overall is likely less than 50 g.

Just a random note, I do think that fly-only setup now can reasonably sleep two even in blowing rain. Same is true (as before) with the interior if you unhook the rings at the top of the zippers and let the floor widen out to accommodate two sleeping pads.

Great modifications!
I think it also suitable for Japanese weather.
Amazing.

Beyond I think it would excel in Japan. Chris from I-cjw.com is looking at one for the winter over there. I will watch to see how you get on with it in Japan on your blog :)

To think I bought the Terra Nova Laser Competition this year, and then along comes the perfect alternative. Now all I have to do is find a "wife-proof" excuse to get this beauty.

Geoff we think we have it all sorted with our kit and then we spot the next big thing. It is good and tell the wife you'll safer or something like that when wildcamping. My wife if it make me safer, has no objections to me spending the money. Be creative and deceptive (she doesn't read my comments :))and good luck with convincing her you need that tent.
