Gear Talk - Osprey Grab Bag:

Planning for the big summer walk, I concluded a handy easy access chest pocket would be needed.

I have used a OOM Trio Pouch, but was not that impressed with it.   A simple small easy to access pouch with solid attachment points was needed.

Osprey packs I don't rate after using two.  One that failed on the Pennine Way and a day pack I found not as good as I hoped.

But they do make the Grab Bag.  Its attachment points look secure and allow fast access to items I can use during the day.  A solid strap secures it and the other attachment points seem ok.

I can also sling a DSLR over my neck, lash it to the pack,  then hold it secure under the grab bag if needed.  Wet days it's in the bag safe.

Either way I shall find out how good this is next weekend on a planned trip.

I have also bought one to give away.  To win this you need to attach a photo of a backpacking trip you have done.  Name the location.  Just click + Image on comments.  I shall add up the entries and do a RANDOM NUMBER draw to determine the winner.  Open to any one, and I shall post to any location.

I shall do that on the 6th July 2012.  Winner will be announced on this post as an update and you need to contact me via email:  summitandvalley@live.com

UPDATE:

We have a winner.

Added 1 entry from a email.  From first and email one the last the random number picked,

So I make that with his Sgurr na Ciche from North Morar Ridge photo, Mr Alan Sloman.

Sorry Martin but my very atmospheric pic of my Laser Comp pitched at Loch Etchachan doesn't seem to want to upload.

Not the approved way of uploading a pic but I hope it works.

As you have loaded it up on your blog.  I shall count that as in the draw Geoff.

A well timed review for me - I'm looking for something other than the OMM chest pouch! I'm including a photo from this year's Challenge, even though I didn't finish it I did enjoy the first few days......photo taken looking back towards Kinloch Hourn.

The photo is the White Mountains in New England. Chrissie

PS I've tried three times now to upload the piccie and it's not playing - I'll e-mail it to you instead. Hope it still counts...

Hey Martin, now I've posted the comment it has uploaded the picture too. Don't know how the other picture next to it has got there as well though, think that might be Boston...

Looking down from the North Morar Ridge towards Loch Morar and Meoble.

Personnaly, I quite like the Osprey Rucksacks.
Might even by another Exos.

Not sure about the porter pack, but the windstopper looks a nice pack.
Well, apart from the price.

I have an Osprey Kestrel and it is fine for me, although I will say the excess straps are a pain in the @r$£

Woo Hooooooo!!!!!   I never win anything!!
So It's a safe haven more my jelly babies and tiny little Point & Shoot that took the picture. I always struggle with places to put that when it's sunny and I haven't got a fleece or a jacket on... indeed, the time when you usually want to take pictures. Thank you Sir!
Richly deserved of course... (koff!)
:-)
